my paper dreams

I was going to post a photo to illustrate my book addiction, but I seem to have lost my card reader, so I can’t get the pictures off of my camera. That reminded me that I need to find the wedding invitations for teh next 2 months (there are 3 of them I think) but those are in hiding too. So, Corey, if you read this, find out what time Jeff’s wedding is, and where (That one is 2 days from now, friends).

I am just about to finish “Stupid and Contagious.” That is a book I read about on someone’s blog, checked out of the library months ago, and kept putting off reading in favor of mysteries. I’d read a page here and there, enjoy it alot, and still put it down becuase I;d rather read a mystery. Finally I decided that it is quite possibly the oldest book in my library stash, so I have been trying to finish it. I almost did so last night, but decided at 11:30 it was time for lights out.

Next up was supposed to be “Shamus in the Green Room,” which I started at dinner earlier this week. However, when I was in borders today I found that the new Diane Mott Davidson book (Sweet Revenge) is out, so I’ll read that next instead. She might be my all-time favorite author. I’ve read each book over and over, and I listen to the books-on-tape alot too. I have only tried a few of the recipes, though.

The reason for this trip to the bookstore is that we’ve had so many recomendations to read The Secret we’ve decided to do so.

I am going to scrap at Archivers with my friend Jess tomorrow, and I am so excited! I think I am going to do the Rainbow challenge there, and then just work on  box of random pictures. I like random. I spent some time on the phone with jess today, and it really cheered me up. It was just nice chatting with a friend about nothing in particular. =)

yet another new day August 27, 2007

Filed under: life — onlysleepn @ 11:16 am

I thought I’d better find some things to be happy about, so here are some of them:

  • Scrapping with Jess on Friday
  • Dinner with family tonight
  • Cinna-Spice coffee from Atlanta Bread
  • Tina & Ryan are getting married
  • I made a back-up plan

My next task will be to try and remember what good things happened this year. I have been focusing on all the bad stuff, but there had to be something good. right?

My mood ring is 2 shades of purple right now. It looks cool, but I wonder what it means.
Jeez, it changed again. The predominant color is somewhere between normal and stressed,  with a tiny bit of cool. Huh.

OK, on to my next major commitment. You may recall my previous commitments of using up a bunch of patterned paper, as well as the Kal Barteski challenge of one year one month and one day. Plus, Kathryn challenged me to do the beautiful like a rainbow challenge. I haven’t done any of these. I was doing Emily’s Deck of Me challenge, but that faded away for me when she had her baby. I don’t even read Kal’s blog anymore. Anyway, I have a new one to throw out there. Will I do it?

My home is a fright. It’s a mess and filled with too much “stuff” that doesn’t have a home. This really struck me while I was on vacation and I compared my SIL’s room with ours. We started out relatively tidy, then it was all downhill. I watched my SIL unpack, I *know* she had tons of stuff with her. Yet her room was neat as a pin, and she had the shades open – it just looked lovely and beautiful all the time.

I always try to clean up my home, but it just never works out to my liking. I make lists, I scrub, I do a little at a time, etc. I even joined flylady for a bit. But now, I think I am just goint to pick a room and focus on it until it is done.  But here’s the key – I am going to do one room a WEEK 9as opposed to one a day). That should give me enough time, don’t you think?

And I am going to change my focus. I generally start with the kitchen or bathroom.  This time, I am going for the bedroom. Usually that is last on my list, since no one sees it.  Well, we see it, and I want a nice room. So, that is where I am starting. By the end of the week I expect to be able to post photos online. That’s right, for all the world to see. Or, at least the 20 or so people who visit my blog.

And I think I will pick back up with em’s challenge’s again too.

Thanks again for all of your well wishes.  Corey and I are trying really hard to heal from everything we’ve been through in the last few months. It’s nice to know we have good friends.

Oops, I forgot to finish this post yesterday…

I just read this quote on Sarah’s blog:

“Love the moment. Flowers grow out of dark moments. Therefore, each moment is vital. It affects the whole. Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed.”

The quote is by Corita Kent.

Anyway, I am just trying to find my way.  Thank you all for your kindness.

It is hot as blazes right now, so I am trying to enjoy some indoor activity.  This is not as easy as one might wish. There are many things such as loud TVs and … children issues … making the indoors uncomfy for me. =(

I haven’t had a picture in a while, so here are some good ones of schatze.  The one is totally unflattering of me, but she looks so cute I will share it.

And this one because I love her paws.

One More Time August 20, 2007

This post should really be a sweet, loving tribute. But I don’t have it in me right now.

This year has sucked from start to… well now. And it’s still not over.

My aunt is watching our dogs so they can stay at home instead of in a kennel or the vet. And she called yesterday to tell us that my perfect, wonderful, sweet little weenie beanie Schatze passed away yesterday. So now I don’t have my dog either, and I wasn’t there to even hold her. But the neighbor was, so she had company.  My poor little ween. My heart just keeps breaking up into teeny little pieces.

So here are my pages again.

This one was going to go in an album, but I think now it will go on the wall instead: http://onlysleepn.wordpress.com/2007/04/30/weve-been-busy/

and so am I! In just 2 days I am up to $35 donated, and at least $35 more pledged. Every little bit helps and I appreciate it so much.

I lost 2 more pounds (I think). Anyway, my grand total in 3 weeks is 8 pounds.  Go me!

I went shopping with Corey tonight. I sucked at clothes, chickened out of spending $$ on fabulous pencil crayons and got some cheapo colored pencils for the beach, stocked up on books at the 1/2 price store (CSI for me, Splinter Cell for Corey) and DVDs from teh library (Bones and Firefly), and am currently trying to decide if I should download the newest Pink cd.

The Feast of the Assumption starts tomorrow and I forgot to avoid Mayfield Road. This place will offically be a nightmare for the next 4 days, but I look forward to as many visitors as possible.

It all makes me tired!!!!!

Quick Update August 13, 2007

Filed under: JDRF Walk for Diabetes — onlysleepn @ 11:56 am

I just registered real quickly so I can start putting donations through, but here is my latest adventure.

As you know, Corey and I have been really doing a lot of walking this year. I decided to put it to good use and walk with a purpose. We will be participating in the local Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund Walk to Cure Diabetes.  You can link to my donation page right here. Or, if you don’t want to do that, you can mail your donation to me as well. They say the average walker raises $100, but my goal is $150. I would prefer to blow that out of the water.

Corey’s cousin is living with diabetes right now. I’ve heard her mom checking up with her on what she eats. I’ve seen her test her blood sugar, and I’ve heard the stories about when she was taken to the hospital. She always strikes me as so mature for her age – this is a big responsibility for a little kid. She needs a cure.

My sister had diabetes,  as did my uncle and my grandmother. So here I am, doing what I can. If you can help, great. If not, well, hopefully you can offer some encouraging words. How far is 5K, anyway? If anyone wants to walk too, you can sign up for the Cleveland walk, or you can sign up for one in your own area. Just go to http://walk.jdrf.org/index.cfm and sign up!

Corey is walking too, but he’s not registered yet. But I’ll post his link once he does, if you want to sponser him too, or instead!

I’ll keep you all posted.  =)
