What kind of scrapper am I? November 5, 2007
First of all, I am a messy scrapper. Currently my supplies are spread across 3 rooms after a few weeks of mad intent to scrap. I didn’t get all that much done – you’ve seen pretty much all of it – but anyway, stuff is everywhere.
So this morning I put together my to do list that would make it seem that I was getting stuff done that I WANT to do and NEED to do. That is, chores and scrap all at once. My computer desk is stacked with memoribilia, so I decided rather than shuffle it saroound I would just scrap that stuff now. But one of these items is from a wedding I went to. A wedding where I failed to take one single picture of the bride and/or groom. I just have a couple of pics of Corey and I. I would love a pic of the bride and groom on my scrapbook page. “A-ha!” I thought. “They made a website before they got married. Surely they have wedding photos up by now. Candids at least, the wedding was 2 months ago.” Of course I couldn’t rmeember how I found the website, so I emailed Corey for the link. However, I either missed him or went into the unknown land of spam, becuase I received no answer. But I want to cross this off my to-do list. “Myspace” I thought. “They are on Myspace. I am on Myspace. It will be much easier to find them if I look on Corey’s page, because I have 5 pages of friends and only 4 favorites, where he has about 25 favorites.” Alas, I found no obvious candidates on his favorites. “But,” I thought “Ryan as in the wedding. Surely one of them will be in HIS favorites.” I found 1 likely suspect. How inconvenient when people don’t use their actual name and actual photo on Myspace. “Perhaps this is the groom” I think. I click on his profile. His first favorite is betty boop. But her name, her name is that of the bride. This must be them! I click on the bride’s profile. She has a website listed. It is their last name dot com. Duh. Who forgets that? I click on the website. They have not updated it. No wedding pictures. Not even one grainy shot from someone’s cell phone.
Now what? These are Corey’s friends. We aren’t close. I don’t have their email addresses to say “Hey, send me a wedding photo, I forgot to take any.” Corey is a boy. He isn’t going to ask another boy for a wedding photo becuase his wife wants to scrap it right this minute. I don’t see myself hunting down Corey’s other friends to see if they were smart enough to take pics at the wedding. I guess I could. I might have to. But I don’t want to.
So I did other chores instead. Laundry. Why is laundry at my house always measured in mountains? As in I still have 2 mountains of laundry to do. And dishes. I hate when the dishes fairy doesn’t visit. So I did that. And I started weather-proofing the windows. Or whatever the proper term is. This is a milestone for me. Every year I plan to do this. Our first year here I did 1 window. My mother-in-law and I almost got in a fight. There is NO reason on earth to fight with my mother-in-law. She is one of the nicest people youwill ever meet in your life. So we quit after one window. And I never took the plastic down. Some years I buy the stuff, but never put it up. Last year I bought 2 kinds – plastic and rope caulk. One night when I went to a crop my in-laws came over and helped Corey clean and organize the house (it was 3 months before I got up the nerve to ask my sister-in-law where she hid the tea bags.) Anyway, it was my brother-in-law’s job to put up the window stuff. He did one window. He did NOT straighten the blinds first, so they were going every which way. This drove me nuts for 4 months until it was warm enough to take the plastic down. But this year I am staarting early. I am going to do them all. So far I did one and a half windows, but I ran out of caulk. I have to do some more tidying to discover if I have more and it is hiding, or if it is all out. But I am going to get it done. And I FINALLY got my new curtains up. They are all wrinkly. Can I use a steamer on suede? I bet no one answers, because who on earth will still be reading this? Sorry for the ramble….
