Trish just shared this link with me. I haven’t gone through the whole site yet, but this guys work is really getting to me today. My favorite so far is the Volvo graveyard.

I had another ultrasound today. Everything is still fine and fabulous. =) Today I am 21 weeks along. That is more than halfway! Provided he shows up on time. =)
He weighs about a pound.
His heartrate is nice and steady at 141 bpm.
His heart and lungs look very good.
He is still a boy (she said this twice, but I wasn’t expecting that to change, lol)
His toes are really cute – he was wiggling them, lol.
He is growing right on track for his due date.
Everything looks really good and all my obsessive fears for the last week are totally unfounded, lol. I always feel better when I get a look at that little guy. =) And for those of you who are curious my stitch is still in place and everything there is as it should be, lol.
look out August 23, 2008
I’ve got my grumpy pants on.
I sure hate travelling. I didn’t really think so. But I do. Being in the car all day today sucked. And I am still not home. I want my own bed, my DVR, my library and my familiar surroundings. I don’t know that I actually relaxed all week. Me + pregnancy + travel do NOT mix. The whole family was so sad all day yesterday because we had to leave the beach house. I was sad because I knew I wouldn’t be home until tomorrow. I am thinking that we need to install an ocean and some warm weather near my home. And for those of you who may choose to point out that Mentor headlands is technically a beach, I would like to point out that lake erie is still mostly a dangerous cocktail of crap.
I had hoped to counter this grump post with some cute pictures of the little baby sea turtles we saw yesterday. They were VERY cute. But I didn’t pay attention when I logged in, so I can’t get the photos. So, baby sea turtles coming soon. And sea oats. I like those too.
Say, if you were from Akron/Cleveland and you were making a list of good restaurants for your friend to try, and you wrote her a little blurb about each one, don’t you think you might have mentioned which one was actually flying a flag that said it was Steelers Country? I thnk you should. Seriously, it’s a good thing the food was good and Pete had his Cleveland Browns credit card on him.
Things I think Baby Hawkins likes because he kicked while i was doing them:
the beach
blueberries
Guns N’ Roses
hearing his daddy sing
my favorite thing August 15, 2008
For the last several weeks I have been pretty sure I can feel the baby move. We have definite flutters going on in there. Usually at lunch time. I have been having an afternoon snack of Bit ‘O Honey, and shortly after I eat one he goes crazy. It just cracks me up.
Last night we went to the Feast and had a visit with my mom’s cousin. And shortly after she started talking he started going wild in there. I am thinking he is a spitfire just like her and recognized a kindred spirit. =)
this week August 13, 2008
I had some things I needed to do. This somewhat correlated with the things I wanted to do. I knew fullwell on Saturday that I would NOT do all of the items on the to-do list in the sky. I did get my suitcase packed yesterday, which was a big surprise. I gatehered up some of the books I am taking on vaca, but alas, my copy of Journal Revolution has gonemissing. I have a feeling it is actually right under my nose, but I havent’ sniffed it out yet.
I also decided a the last minute of course, that I reallyw ant a haircut. I gave that one up right away, but do have the style picked. I just am not sure what to do. I like the girl that cuts my hair, and she is the only person who gets my eyebrows right. But I am not really ever happy with my hair. Even when she styles it, it doens;t look like the picture. I sometimes go to this other place, but that girl always tries to get me to cut my hair short, and it costs even more than the first place. In afit of depsration I was onna goto Great Clips, but what are the chances of that turning out well? So now what?
The one thing I was SURE I was going to do was get a pedicure. Iwaited at the place for about 5 minutes, then couldn’t take the smell and left. So I bought some cute polish at Rite Aid and will hope it looks OK. Provided I actually take the time to get rid of my old polish and put on the new.
Tomorrow I plan to go to the Feast. My mom and Kim are coming with me. It will be bittersweet – next year I won’t live there at all. Not that I live there now, but my junk mail does….
PS August 12, 2008
The sample of the new blog theme included my custom photo, but when I clicked apply it disappeared. The angel will come back tonight, I promise. And anything else that disappeared by accident. =( I just wanted a little blue on my blog, for goodness sake.
a little short of awesome August 12, 2008
Every day I have to try real hard to eat my veggies. I want to make sure Baby H has all the goodness he needs and veggies are the hardest part. For awhile, when all I could stand for lunch was soup it wasn’t too bad. There are almost always veggies in soup. Now that I can stand to eat most anything, I am veggie challenged again. Because once again, I hate salad.
This weekend my mom and I made the lovely zucchini salad Abby posted on her blog (Abby, I know you have a family blog, can I link to you?) Mom and I enjoyed it, although I think red onions are too much for me right now. I was happy to see there was some left over, so I brought it for lunch. And I am just not feeling it. Really I want a cheeseburger. So I am choking down this lovely zucchini and these yummy black beans who never hurt anyone, and just feeling mad they aren’t a cheeseburger. I don’t even have time to get anything else. I don’t want to waste these lovely veggies. But these is a real chore. Sigh… I am doing them a disservice becuase it is really quite yummy. But I just don’t want it.
I do think I will try and talk Corey into Panera for dinner because I would LOVE some broccoli cheese soup. And if I eat this darn zucchinni I can get a bread bowl instead of a salad, right?
And then I have to do it all again tomorrow.
On the closer-to-awesome front, I reserved a room for Friday night as we get ready to head to the beach. I managed to accidentally reserve a wheel-chair accessible smoking room. So, not only would I be subjecting myself to the reek of old cigs, I could potentially be stealing an easily accessible room from someone who needs it. Fortunately, the people at Motel 6 are totally awesome, so it just took a quick phone call to an 800 number to switch to a non-smoking regular room. With WIFI. There are some things you just don’t need to get away from if your last name is Hawkins.
overheard during the olympics opening ceremony August 8, 2008
Me: Man, those bagpipers are still going. I hope they have reinforcments and it’s not the same guys blowing the whole time
Jason: They’re hooked up to air compressors.
in a Scottish accent:
” Puff your cheeks, men. Pretend you’re blowing.”
