1 month later and no updates. Bad blogger! I just don’t get on the computer much at home. And what’s a post without a picture? Love ya! Happy Thanksgiving-ish!
So What’s Been Going On? October 16, 2009
The days just fly by. I cannot beleive it. My son is almost 10 months old. My niece is almost 4 months old. Spring and Summer have come and gone, and I’m not sure Fall will be a season to note. There are patches of brilliant and beautiful trees on my ride to and from work, but it has been so cold and rainy that I have barely been outside to enjoy it.
I am on vacation next week. I am SO EXCITED to have some uninterrupted family time. It is supposed to be pretty sunny next week, so I plan on taking Colin on plenty of outside adventures – the park, the zoo, the playground and whatever else I can think of. I am also planning on getting in some scrapbooking time during his morning naps next week. Lately the only time I have is after he goes to bed, and the thought of trying to scrap has been seriously overwhelming. I have only ordered pictures from the first 5 days of his life, and I am still scrapping his ultrasound photos! I got a little photo album for Colin – it’s a teether and a book – very cute. I got it before he was born and finally got pictures printed for it last night. And I tried printing some baptism photos to put in the frames I have for that. Even that little bit took forever. So – finding and printing 5 pictures = 1.5 hours of effort. Crazy!
Hi Kathryn!
That’s all for now!
yikes October 15, 2009
tap… tap…
anyone out there?
Woops, sorry about that. I want to be friends with my blog again. So I just might start posting again. I also have to figure out what happened – my formatting disappeared!
Or not.
Oh Yeah June 11, 2009
Tracey reminded me I have a blog. For what it’s worth, I tried to post numerous times from the hospital, but the iPod touch doesn’t allow easy wordpress blogging from what I could tell. It might have been the morphine. Anyway, I am fine. If you want to learn about histoplasmosis, look it up, ha ha. I don’t have time to provide links.
Dear Tracey, please show me how to fix my Twitter settings. Thanks!
Since last I posted, Colin has been growing like a weed. He laughs all day, he rolls over both ways, and he really really prefrs to sit up like a big boy – he just can’t do it himself. And of course he is the cutest baby ever!

I don’t know why the picture doesn’t work – I will try to try again later. In the meantime, if you could see it you would see him holding the sweetest little taggie blanket. It’s called a tag-a-boo, and the wonderful Michelle @ First Born Designs makes them. Every baby needs one – or 2 or 3 of these. It’s my total go-to baby gift, which I stole from Tracey. She gave Colin this one, as well as the softiest Minky blanket Michelle made for him. So, please check out First Born Designs - thanks!
It’s Me Again April 2, 2009
I really miss my little blog. I just can’t seem to fit it in anymore. But I think about it. =)
So, here is what is up with me. I am getting used to beiong Colin’s mommy and just love it. He is such a wonderful, sweet little boy. I couldn’t say how many people compliment us on how darn cute he is – and I don’t think they are just saying it!
I have found a little time to read lately:
Your Baby Week By Week
Wife for Hire by Janet Evanovich
Baby Laughs by Jenny McCarthy
Breaking Dawn – I just started this yesterday – I should finish it in a year or so..
I ordered some books from Barnes & Noble the other day, since Corey and Colin gave me a gift card for Valentine’s day. I pre-ordered the new Diane Mott Davidson. I also picked up Snippets by Lain Ehmann (yay, scrapbooking!), and a bunch of Sandra Boynton books for Colin. They are so fun to read.
I’ve been taking lots of pictures and experimenting with our cameras. Of course 99.9% of these are of my son. I haven’t figured out how/where to print any of them, but I keep trying.
Now that the weather is finally warming up I have been getting outside and walking – just a bit but it feels great! Corey and I took Colin to the park for the first time on Saturday. it was a day I have been dreaming about for years and it was every bit as wonderful as I imagined. We even went back toay after work!
Since I can watch movies without having to put the baby down I haven’t closed my netflix account just yet. I thought I would, but so far I am enjoying a few movies still.
Twilight
Daddy Day Care
I forget the others, ha ha.
I’ve tried a little bit of digital scrapbooking. Ali Edwards has some wonderful things available from Designer Digitals. I bought a bunch when they had a sale last Feb. I have been working on populating a page a day calendar with pictures of Colin. I have aspirations of doing a little paper scrapping – we’ll see if I manage it. I still have to make my little album for Robbie. A few weeks ago I did another one of Colin’s ultrasound pictures – I can’t believe how many there are!
We try to spend as much time with Corey’s parents, his sister, her fiance and their 7 puppies as we can. The puppies are adorable, but there are so many of them! Yikes.
There are babies everywhere! I am so happy for all of my friends and family who are so blessed right now. It seems like every week I am getting more news – and most of these babies are boys, ha ha. Colin will have lots of little friends. Tomorrow her gets to meet Tommy for the first time – we can’t wait. I feel a special connection to that little guy because his momma had to work so hard to get him here. Kim has been such a huge support to me over the last few years – all I can say is thank God for good friends.
I do have wonderful friends – everyone has been so supportive. Thanks to each and everyone of you!
And now the important stuff…

Do Working Moms Blog? February 17, 2009
I am still trying to work this whole thing out!
I am so incredibly happy to be Colin’s mommy. Each new thing he does is a thrill, each day brings joy and wonder. I am also constantly bowled over when I discover the new things I have learned about how to be his parent. But I haven’t quite figured out the juggling act. Which is why he is going to be 8 weeks old tomorrow and the birth anouncements have yet to be mailed. Or why I have 2 different baby carriers and can’t get the poor guy comfortably situated in either of them. But I am enjoying the ride, and figure I will get it down eventually. So know I think about blogging, I just haven’t managed to get 2 hands free long enough to do it.
3 weeks January 15, 2009
Time flies. I can’t believe it has been 3 weeks and one day since I had Colin. It is mostly a blur and definitely a rollercoaster. The only thing I am sure of is my love for my son. I know I am getting that part right. And I am sure of Corey’s love for him. No one has ever had a more devoted daddy. But enough about Corey. Well, he has a definite preference for Pampers, lol. And all we have left in Newborn is huggies. I offered him an opportunity to exchange the last pack of huggies for Pampers, but he chose not to. And darn it, Costco doesn’t sell Pampers. WTF???
Anyway, let’s talk about Colin. Also known as Mr. Peanut, Baby Smiley, Squeaky Boy Floyd, Stinky Boy Floyd, and Baby Squeaky. His favorite story is “One Day Colin Baby…” I invite you all to make up your own adventure about Colin Baby and share it with us. He loves any and all stories in which he is the star. His favorite song is “Baby Colin, Mommy Loves You.” This is followed closely by “Kookaburra” and “3 Little Fishies,” although I am pretty sure he wishes mommy would learn the rest of the words. His favorite food is Similac Advanced Early Shield, and his mommy would love to hear from other bottle-feeding mommies, since apparantly the world thinks only breastfeeders need support. Not true. And now that we have that all out of the way, we would love any and all not-sick visitors. We love visitors – please come over.
And now for what you have been waiting for – pictures!
I can’t quite capture his actual cuteness with my camera or Corey’s. These are all from my camera withthe zoom lens. I think we might go professional next week some time. Because he will be a month old next Saturday. I will cry.
So, if I had made captions for these I would have mentioned that he sure does sleep alot when we want to be awake. And he sure does like to make it hard to feed him sometimes. His usual trick is to turn his head towards me when i try to give him a bottle. So I can’t get it anywhere near his mouth. OR (he has done this since he was born) he will flail his arms in front of his face so you can’t get a nipple of any sort anywhere near his mouth. Yet clearly he is hungry. =) Ane now he grabs onto the bottle so I can’t see if anything is going into his mouth or if there is actually formula in the nipple. Poor little dear just wants to help I think.
Cheryl was right, he does look like he has red hair. In pictures. Not in real life.
I love his little feet and hands. You can still see little marks where they took hi blood though. =( Poor little peanut.
I forgot everything else I was going to write. Daddy has been so nice holding Colin and playing guitar, sitting here with me. That is a picture for another post.
